Lord Father, We thank You for America and for the generations who have sought freedom, safety, and opportunity upon her shores. Thank You for immigrants whose labor, courage, faith, and love of family enrich our common life, and for neighbors who welcome others with warm reception.

Grant our nation wisdom to uphold just laws, protect our communities, and treat every person with dignity. Guide our president, Congress, judges, and public servants to act truthfully, humbly, and without favoritism. Protect those who guard our borders and those who face danger, persecution, or exploitation.

Comfort separated families, shelter vulnerable children, and strengthen communities carrying heavy responsibilities. Bless teachers, churches, employers, and volunteers who help newcomers find their footing. Help immigrants and longtime citizens alike fulfill their duties and seek the good of their neighbors.

Forgive our prejudice, dishonesty, indifference, and contempt. Teach us to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with You. Make our churches faithful in hospitality and our public conversations honest and peaceable. Unite the American people in compassion, responsibility, and hope. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Call them all together—men, women, children, and the foreigners living in your towns—so they may hear this Book of Instruction and learn to fear the LORD your God and carefully obey all the terms of these instructions. Deuteronomy 31:12 NLT

“Thanks to each wave of new arrivals to this land of opportunity, we’re a nation forever young, forever bursting with energy and new ideas, and always on the cutting edge, always leading the world to the next frontier.” — President Ronald Reagan January 19, 1989
