Heavenly Father, We bring before You the families of America. Thank You for the gift of family, for parents who sacrifice, grandparents who share their wisdom, children who fill our homes with wonder, and loved ones who remain faithful through difficult seasons.
Lord, strengthen marriages, heal broken relationships, and teach us to forgive one another with humility and love. Give parents wisdom and patience as they guide their children in truth and righteousness. Protect the young from abuse, exploitation, and destructive influences. Comfort families grieving a loss, struggling financially, or caring for those who are sick, elderly, or vulnerable.
Provide for those who lack food, shelter, companionship, or the support of a loving household. Bless foster and adoptive families, and encourage churches and communities to serve those in need.
May our homes reflect the words of Joshua: “As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” Teach us to practice the patience, kindness, and forgiveness described in Your Word. Restore the family unit where there is division, bring peace where there in our conflicts, and renew a spirit of faithfulness throughout the households of our nation.
May American families honor You in their daily lives and leave a legacy of faith, compassion, courage, and integrity for generations to come. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. Colossians 3:12-14 ESV
“The family is the basic unit of our society, the heart of our free democracy. It provides love, acceptance, guidance, support, and instruction to the individual. Community values and goals that give America strength also take root in the home. In times of change and challenge, families keep safe our cultural heritage and reinforce our spiritual foundation.” — Ronald Reagan Proclamation 4882—National Family Week November 03, 1981
