Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your mercy toward America and for every person who chooses honesty, service, courage, and compassion. Thank You for the heritage of liberty and responsibility entrusted to the American people, and for those who strengthen our communities through faithful work, prayer, sacrifice, and neighborly care.
Grant us hearts that seek what is true, honorable, just, pure, and worthy of praise. Teach us, as Your Word commands, to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with You. Raise up leaders of wisdom, integrity, restraint, and courage; protect them from pride, corruption, and fear. Renew America’s moral strength. Help us leave to our children and grandchildren a nation worthy of the blessings we have received.
Form in our homes, churches, schools, and communities the fruit of Your Spirit: love, peace, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Give Americans grace to repent where we have done wrong and strength to persevere in doing good. May virtue grow among us for the blessing of our neighbors and the honor of Your name. Amen.
In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone. 2 Peter 1:5-7 NLT
“A Bible and a newspaper in every house, a good school in every district; all studied and appreciated as they merit; are the principal support of virtue, morality, and civil liberty.” — Benjamin Franklin
