Heavenly Father, we lift the District of Columbia before You. Thank You for this city’s history, its diverse people, its institutions, its neighborhoods, and its influence upon the life of our nation. Let its civic aspiration—justice for all—be more than words. Establish truth in public life, defend the vulnerable, comfort the grieving, protect children and families, and bring peace to streets affected by violence and fear.
Give wisdom, humility, courage, and integrity to all who govern and serve in Washington. Turn hearts away from pride, corruption, anger, and division. Raise up peacemakers, servants, faithful pastors, compassionate workers, honest public officials, and courageous citizens. Renew Your Church in the District with prayer, holiness, mercy, and bold love for neighbor.
Lord, please cover our leaders and elected officials with Your steadfast protection. May righteousness and peace take root in Washington, D.C. May the city seek the welfare of every resident, and may its leaders pursue justice with humility before You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
