Mighty God, We lift up West Virginia to You — the ancient mountains, winding rivers, and the beautiful lands in between. Thank You for the New River, the Alleghenies, the forests that still hold their wildness, and the people who have made their home among them for generations.
Bless those who work the earth and those who once worked beneath it. Bless the families gathered on porches, in small churches, and around kitchen tables. Bless the children growing up in the hills, the elders who remember how it used to be, and everyone in between who keeps showing up for one another.
Where there is hardship, bring provision. Where there is sickness or sorrow, bring healing and comfort. Where there is weariness, bring rest. Where there is division, bring a spirit of neighborliness that Appalachia has always known how to practice.
Give wisdom to those who lead, strength to those who labor, and hope that does not depend on circumstance. Protect this state from flood and fire, from despair and neglect. Let its beauty not be only something to look at, but something that shapes the hearts of the people who live here.
May West Virginia be a place of deep roots and open hands — faithful, resilient, and peace. Amen.
