Lord, we lift up Iowa — her fields, her families, and her faithful. You have watched over this land since her people first gathered in gratitude, trusting You for rain and grain and rest. Today we ask for that same mercy. Comfort the farmers bearing the weight of falling prices and rising debt; bless them with Your life giving rain, and guard against despair in every quiet farmhouse and struggling town. Bring healing to families still rebuilding after flooding waters, and provide swiftly for those without a home tonight.

Give Iowa’s leaders wisdom beyond their years, and lead their hearts to still turn to You in crisis.

Revive Your church across this state — let the growth we see in some congregations spread until hearts turn to faith.

We thank You for Iowa’s abundance, for the legacy of feeding the world planted here, and for every hand that reaches out to a struggling neighbor. Restore what the years have eaten, renew this land’s strength, and let Your glory be declared in Iowa, from her fields to her front porches. Amen.

The meadows are covered with flocks and the valleys are mantled with grain; they shout for joy and sing. Psalm 65:13 NIV

“I do hereby recommend that all Christian denominations in the State meet together at their usual places of worship, and return thanks to the Great Disposer of events, for the manifold blessings which have been showered upon us during the last year… let us all assemble… and humbly and with faith ask for a continuance of the same”. — Governor Ansel Briggs Iowa’s First Thanksgiving Proclamation November 1, 1847
